Boston Landing, the burgeoning New Balance-anchored neighborhood in Brighton, reached a milestone last week with the topping off of a 17-story luxury apartment tower across the street from the athletic company’s global headquarters.

“The completion of this phase of construction puts us one step closer to seeing this transformational project become a reality,” New Balance Athletics chairman Jim Davis said.

The 295-unit Residences at Boston Landing is part of a 15-acre, transit-oriented development that began with New Balance’s 250K SF futuristic-looking headquarters adjacent to the Massachusetts Turnpike. The residential development was designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects and developed by HYM Investment Group, John Hancock Real Estate and NB Development Group, the athletic company’s development arm.

The apartment building will feature over 16K SF of ground-floor retail space when the complex opens in June 2018. Beginning later in May, an MBTA commuter rail station will connect the development with downtown Boston. At full build-out, Boston Landing will have 2.5M SF of mixed-use space.
