Mercedes-Benz Backs Into WeWork In Buckhead

Wework Inked A New Lease At Terminus 100 In Buckhead

The biggest player in the coworking sphere has inked a deal with one of the biggest players in the luxury car market.

WeWork has secured an agreement with Mercedes-Benz to operate an innovation lab at the coworking operator's Buckhead location. For Atlanta-based Mercedes-Benz, its Lab1886 operation at Terminus 100 represents the fourth innovation lab it has established, including two in Germany and one in Beijing, CoStar reports.

It is a location that WeWork opened at the start of the year, leasing 42K SF at the 27-story office tower in the heart of Buckhead. The location is able to accommodate more than 800 members.

The carmaker's innovation lab is part of WeWork's efforts of late to move up the office tenant food chain, from leasing space to small firms, individuals and startups to now pursuing larger corporate clients. Last month, WeWork struck a deal with Facebook to occupy its 450K SF Mountain View, California, location, according to CoStar.

WeWork also recently hired Lawrence Gellerstedt, the former head of Cushman & Wakefield's tech practice group in Atlanta, who will head up WeWork's Southeast expansion, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
