A prominent Duluth office building is going from cash registers to computer software.

Atlanta-based AMI has leased 53,500 SF at Satellite Place, a six-building, 820K SF office campus off Satellite Boulevard in Duluth. The property, near Gwinnett Place Mall, was part of the former headquarters space of NCR.

NCR moved from Duluth and opened its 750K SF Midtown headquarters, built by Cousins Properties, in 2018. Its lease for three floors at Satellite Place officially expired in July, JLL officials said. The firm, known for its point-of-sale software, has moved 5,000 employees to the new Midtown campus.

The AMI deal was brokered by JLL executive vice presidents Glenn Aspinwall and Jeff Taylor. AMI is expected to move from its current headquarters at 5555 Oakbrook Parkway in Norcross, a suburban city in Gwinnett County. Satellite Place is owned in a joint venture of Banyan Street Capital and Oaktree Capital Management, which purchased the campus in 2015.

“AMI was looking to upgrade its office environment to a new location that offered superior amenities, space to foster its growing business and proximity to Atlanta’s major thoroughfares,” Aspinwall said in a release.

AMI was the largest, but not the only deal executed at Satellite Place in the past quarter. IKO International and Kenan Advantage Group leased a combined 11K SF at the facility as well, JLL officials said in the release.
