Cornerstone Buckhead MOB Closer To Reality

Cornerstone Development Partners has taken the final steps toward MOB reality in South Buckhead.

The firm—founded by the late iconic Atlanta developer Bob Kern—has filed permits to raze a string of retail stores, including the Chick-fil-A, Peachtree Cleaners and the Peachtree Package Store along Peachtree Road—to move forward on a 188k SF medical office building and senior living project across from Piedmont Hospital.

The more than three-acre parcel (which includes 1875, 1891, 1895 and 1901 Peachtree Rd) has long been targeted by Cornerstone for the project. Aside from the retailers above, Cornerstone will finally raze the Harry's in a Hurry retail location (above) that shuttered more than a decade ago, and has since been vacant, one of the eyesores of South Buckhead.

Cornerstone's Wesley DeFoor tells us the seven-story project will be layered with ground-floor retail incorporating both the Chick-fil-A and the Peachtree Cleaners, two levels of medical office space and the rest all senior housing units. As for the liquor store, also a popular longtime feature in that section of Buckhead, Wesley says it will not be part of the new project. The firm has not announced a construction commencement date, but once permits are in place, that could be any day.
