Talk about timing! The Global Center for Medical Innovation opened last week near Georgia Tech and Atlantic Station, hours before news broke that Baxter International would build a $1B plant in Atlanta's far east suburbs. We snapped Cooper Carry's Mark Jensen, center, listening as GCMI's Douglas Schumer, waving hand, discusses what happens inside the Global Center for Medical Innovation. (They have all their meetings in hallways; it thwarts spies.) At left is WBSTV anchor John Bachman. GCMI's Tiffany Karp is next to Schumer, and Wilbert News Strategies' Hadley Creekmuir is also on the scene. GCMI's 12k facility  at 575 14th St will unite members of the medical device community to research and accelerate the timing of new medical products.
