The play was staged by director Gaye Taylor Upchurch and Arena Stage artistic director Molly Smith. It covers a year of Joan's life in which she must grapple with the loss of her husband, who died of a sudden heart attack in 2003 while their daughter, Quintana, was in a coma. Quintana died in 2005, while Joan was promoting the memoir. The show runs until Nov. 20.
