The Year Of Magical Thinking!

A titan of the stage and screen, Kathleen Turner, graces the Arena Stage with a performance in the theater's latest production, The Year of Magical Thinking. The actress, snapped above with her daughter, Rachel Ann Weiss, portrays author Joan Didion, who wrote the Magical Thinking originally as a memoir before adapting it for the stage.

The play was staged by director Gaye Taylor Upchurch and Arena Stage artistic director Molly Smith. It covers a year of Joan's life in which she must grapple with the loss of her husband, who died of a sudden heart attack in 2003 while their daughter, Quintana, was in a coma. Quintana died in 2005, while Joan was promoting the memoir. The show runs until Nov. 20.
