DLA Piper Adds 260 Lawyers in Merger
One of the world's largest law firms continues to grow. DLA Piper announced on Monday its merger with the 260-lawyer Canada-based firm Davis LLP, effective April this year. Davis LLP was founded in Vancouver and has been around for more than 120 years. Its focuses include energy, natural resources, infrastructure and transportation.
DLA Piper brought 4,200 lawyers to the combination. DLA Piper global co-chair Roger Meltzer says that Canada has been "an integral part of our global strategy" for some time. Roger became the firm's global co-chairman alongside Sir Nigel Knowles, succeeding Tony Angel and Lee Miller, in a global leadership change-up effective January 2015.
