Top Legal Pets III

We love taking a look at the cuddly pets keeping DC's lawyers sane at the end of a long day. Here's the Great Dane Kooper, who belongs to Commercial Settlements co-founder Stuart Levin. The pup is indeed cuddly, and Stuart tells us he is a very sweet dog who has no idea that he weights 185 pounds--he thinks he's a lap dog. (Paul Bunyan's lap, maybe.) Kooper came into the family through Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue almost five years ago; he turned 9 this past Christmas Day.

When Venable partner Jeff Tenenbaum isn't chairing the firm's nonprofit organizations practice, you can find him exploring DC with his dog, Pagoda. A Thai native, Pagoda was rescued from the streets of Phuket by the Soi Dog Foundation and got his name from the pagoda under which he was found. (No reason to spend forever looking through baby name books.) The three-year-old dog made his way to DC by way of Amsterdam last fall and is adjusting to East Coast city life and taking in the sights like a true DC resident. It's a far cry from the warmth of Thailand, especially this winter.

This shi-poo rescue, Oliver Schiff, belongs to two super parents: Holland & Knight real estate partner Janis Schiff (who was named one of Bisnow's DC commercial real estate power women this year) and Maryland Tech Council CEO Phil Schiff. Oliver recently became a city dog, making a move from Bethesda to DC. Janis tells us he's happy with the transition--except he doesn't like walking on city grates.
