Somehow, long ago, lawyers picked up a not-so-positive reputation among the public (a Flemish painting from 1545 called "The Lawyer's Office" was already satirizing the profession's alleged greed). But we've seen firms consistently prove it wrong. The latest is Nixon Peabody, which teamed up with a local nonprofit helping current or former homeless women get back on their feet with food, services, and supportive housing. Above, DC managing partner Jeff Lesk presents Rachael's Women's Center executive director Dawn Swan with the big check. Real estate chair and former DC MP Tina Wilcox is on RWC's board. Take that, sixteenth-century Netherlandish art.
