Lawyers Fighting Breast Cancer

How competitive are K Street lawyers? When Reed Smith's DC officedecided to raise money for breast cancer awareness by forming a team to run/walk in tomorrow's Susan G. Komen Global Race for The Cure, the original goal was $10k. Then Reed Smith Thinks Pink team captains Gail Daubert and Carol Loepere decided to up the stakes. Office fundraising ramped up with sales of pink smoothies, $5 Jeans Days, and a raffle for VIP Nationals baseball tickets, bumping thetotal so far to more than $18,000 in donations, with Loepere (a cancer survivor) matching individual gifts up to $500. McDermott is raising money to help combat breast cancer, too, working with pro bono client Breast Care for Washington, which was just awarded a $125k check for a new mobile mammography machine.
