A Valentine's Court Case

Placeholder

Last night, a Virginia federal judge ruled that the state's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. The case was argued by Ted Olson (right) and David Boies, the same high-powered duo who successfully argued for the overturn of Prop 8 at the Supreme Court. In the Virginia decision, which is stayed pending an appeal, US District Judge Arenda Wright Allen writes that we've reached another point when "We the People becomes more inclusive, and our freedom more perfect..." Then, she connects this fight for equality to another in America, quoting Abraham Lincoln: "It can not have failed to strike you that these men ask for just. . . the same thing—fairness, and fairness only. This, so far as in my power, they, and all others, shall have."
