Placeholder

Vornado president Mitchell Schear just got another ally in his mission to make Crystal City a tech hub. 1776, the DC-based startup campus, announced yesterday it acquired Disruption, a Crystal City company launched two years ago to track and analyze startups and to invest in them from its $50M Crystal Tech Fund. Vornado invested in the fund and partnered with Disruption founder Paul Singh to attract more tech entrepreneurs to Crystal City. 1776, also launched two years ago, has over 250 startups housed in its DC incubator, has had visits from President Obama and dignitaries from all over the world, and formed partnerships with companies like Booz Allen and Microsoft. It also runs a global competition to find the best startups in the world. The plan is to create that same ecosystem in Crystal City, and ultimately make the DC region an innovation hub. 1776 also recently partnered with Montgomery County to offer resources to its startup community.
