JBG Begins Transformation Of RTC West From Office Park To Mixed-Use

JBG has started the first phase of construction on its RTC West development.

The developer will add 40k SF of new and modified retail space to blend with the existing 480k SF of office space at the 14-acre RTC West site. The development sits just off the Dulles Toll Road at Town Center Parkway.

Phase 1 also includes reconstructing 15k SF of office space into street-level retail space and adding 25k SF of new retail at the southwest. JBG inked Chicago-based Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant, which expects to open in mid-2017, last year for nearly 10k SF. The developer also recently announced that prolific restaurant chain Nando’s Peri Peri has signed for 3,400 SF, and Mezeh Mediterranean Grill also signed for about 2,100 SF in the redeveloped space.

JBG, which says it's Reston's largest owner of real estate, will turn this 3-building office park into a complex with possibly 1.4M SF of new development that could have as its complement the new Reston Town Center Metro station arriving by 2020. This plan follows the recommendations of the Reston Comprehensive Plan.

JBG bought RTC West in 2012 and upgraded the office buildings to state-of-the-art Class-A space in 2014.
