Sherry Cushman At The Crew Awards In 2015

Last week, CREW DC handed out its 10th annual industry awards for our fair city, and chief among the honorees was Cushman & Wakefield's Sherry Cushman (no relation). Sherry won the Impact Award, given annually to women who represent the best and brightest of the local commercial real estate industry.

2015 CREW DC president Bari Nichols presented the awards to teams from companies for placemaking, dealmaking, interior design and marketing campaign. The winners were:

Placemaking: MRP Realty/ASB Real Estate Investments for 900 G St NW

Dealmaking: Capital One for The Hotel at the University of Maryland

Best Interiors: FOX Architects for the American Forest & Paper Association

Best marketing campaign: Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District

Bonaventure Realty Group's Elizabeth Karl was given the Rising Star Award. She only joined CREW, and the industry, a few years ago but is already active on a number of committees.

Former CREW DC president Betsy Karmin, a real estate lawyer with Morris, Manning & Martin, got a hug from Bari, the current president, as she received her Annual Achievement Award for starting the real estate group at her current firm with Wendy Williams after leaving DLA Piper.

CBRE's Brad Flickinger was given the corporate leadership award for championing the promotion of women into leadership positions at one of the biggest real estate firms in the world.

Hundreds of industry professionals showed up for the awards at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium on Consitution Avenue. It's one of the biggest award nights in the industry, and the turnout reflected that. Congrats to all the winners!
