Remembering Claude Keener, Co-Founder of Keener Management

Claude Keener, a longtime Northwest multifamily developer, died over the weekend at his family home after a battle with prostate cancer. Claude co-founded Keener-Squire Properties and Keener Management with Gary Squire in 1984, and the company today owns and manages more than 2,000 apartments. A 1975 graduate of the University of Virginia, Claude joined Wayne Construction in Arlington, which had been founded by his father in the early 1950s, before striking out on his own a decade later. Gary said in an email that "Claude was simply the best partner and friend anyone could have, and the finest person one could ever hope to know." He's survived by his wife, Nancy, two daughters, their husbands and a 6-week-old grandson.
