Five Finalists for WWI Memorial Revealed

Placeholder

After reviewing more than 350 submissions, the World War One Centennial Commission has narrowed the field down to five potential designs for the planned memorial in Pershing Park. The 1.8-acre park is located at Pennsylvania Avenue NW and 14th Street NW and is meant to honor the 4.7 million Americans who served in the war. Congress approved the memorial last year in spite of some resistance to the chosen location. The competition was meant to transform the park into a national WWI memorial. The winner is scheduled to be announced in January[DCist]
