D.C. United Kicks Off Its Future

The Internet’s awesome power was proven when more than 2,000 soccer-crazed DC residents sent over 27,000 emails to the mayor and city council in support of the DC United soccer stadium proposal. (Here are some power players at DC United’s season opener on March 8: DC United partner Will Chang, midfielder Chris Pontius, COO Tom Hunt, and partner Jason Levien). Tom, with a strong background in professional sports and entertainment, took the COO job in February. He says the stadium, proposed for construction at Buzzard Point, will provide great economic benefit to the city. It will have many uses besides professional soccer, including hosting more than 50 events each year, as well as headline concerts, cultural events, school-age sports, college soccer, football, lacrosse, and more.
