Albert Small's Cool Cars

DC real estate legend Albert Small is still putting in full weeks at his 7501 Wisconsin office while also preparing his deep collection of DC artifacts to be donated to GWU. But he's got another hobby: toy car collecting. We snapped him at his Bethesda home last week showing off the fire truck portion of said collection—and there's thousands more where these came from. Albert, long a car enthusiast, says he's collected toy cars for 30 to 40 years and loves the details in the miniature models; he has a particular affinity for those fire trucks (he's got nearly every make and model) and Benzes, too.

The collection spans three rooms, and he's adding new assets every couple of weeks. He says he's never had the collection appraised, he's merely in it for fun. Albert doesn't stop short at the toy cars though; he's got two vintage Mercedes in his garage, including a '69 convertible he bought brand-new way back when.
