WeWork appears to be planning its first co-working location in Maryland.

Signs point to WeWork opening in a University of Maryland building that War Horse's Scott Plank has plans to convert to co-working, the Washington Business Journal reports

An entity called 7761 Greenhouse Road Tenant LLC applied for a trade name application for a business called "WeWorki" with its business address listed as 115 West 18th St., WeWork's New York headquarters. 7761 Greenhouse Road is a 20K SF College Park building that War Horse has proposed converting to co-working space. WeWork declined to comment.

The building sits behind the Hotel at UMD, Southern Management Corp.'s $150M mixed-use project opening this summer. It is part of an area branded as the "Discovery District," a $2B investment between the university and the city to revitalize the area between Baltimore Avenue and the College Park Metro station.

Ken Ulman, the former Howard County executive and UMD alum who started a consulting firm to boost College Park, told Bisnow last summer he was working on getting the city's first co-working space. A UMD spokesperson declined to comment.

Scott Plank is also working to convert a former auto maintenance facility at 4425 Paint Branch Parkway into an arts-and-entertainment venue. He and his brother, Under Armour CEO and Port Covington developer Kevin Plank, are both UMD alumni.
