SUE CARRAS
“Every time opportunity knocks, answer,” says HFF finance guru Sue Carras. And Sue’s answered the call plenty of times. After a few years working in NYC post-college, she headed to Sonnenblick Goldman in Miami, helping form a JV for the development of Tampa’s Rocky Point. She came to DC in ’89 to start Sonnenblick’s local office and helped form a JV with Cassidy & Pinkard. She semi-retired in 2000 to spend more time with her family before coming back full-time in 2009 with Sonnenblick (by that point owned by Cushman & Wakefield). A move to HFF in 2011 followed, and she’s thrilled to be working for a firm that acts as “advisors to clients, rather than just brokers.” Besides answering opportunities, Sue says she lives by a piece of advice her dad gave her: “Always leave yourself an option.”
