Bisnow Scoop: Top Firms Make Top Hires

Washington, D.C. Office

Why so many new hires this week? (Everyone wants to land the guy who throws a good Super Bowl party.) Three area companies made big splashes, as brokers, finance experts, and even top executives are in new posts.

First up, a Bisnow exclusive: Cushman & Wakefield recently brought on veteran brokers Craig Burton and Rick Farren to bolster its Bethesda office, as well as tenant rep guru John Boland to the DC office. We snapped the pair this week; Craig and Rick are bullish on the I-270 corridor, and John says that while there's still uncertainty in the market, "it just makes us work harder and smarter." C&W regional head Brian Dawson tells us the trio emodies the firm's "regional guiding principles of character, respect, teamwork, passion, and excellence."

CBRE has just brought on investment banking vet Ken Sacco to its financial consulting group. He joins after stints with Lehman Brothers and Barclays in NYC and London. He'll assist the tenant rep side--brokers and clients--with financial advisory services ranging from tax and accounting assistance to the lease vs. buy question. Ken, who lived in London for three years before returning to the US in 2013, says his favorite part about DC is the "phenomenal" selection of museums. (Take that, Victoria and Albert Museum.)

Monday Properties has also gotten in on the action, promoting development chief Tim Helmig to co-president (along with colleague Dang Phan), as well as COO. The moves come after the departure of longtime president/COO Brian Robin, effective today; Dang will also serve as CIO. We snapped Tim at the firm's just delivered 1812 N Moore in Rosslyn late last year.
