Techshop Building Community In Crystal City

Placeholder

Techshop just celebrated its two-year anniversary in Crystal City last month, and despite being a relative newcomer, Techshop has cemented its place in the community as a premier prototyping and DIY fabrication studio, hackerspace and learning center.

Aside from the typical bustle of members, Techshop has rolled out a series of kids STEAM-based programming (that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics—parents can sign up here), aids Synetic Theater in set construction, and partners with fellow creatives and neighbors at the Gallery and Studios Underground. Additionally, a popular piece in the Crystal City Business Improvement District’s Art Walls collection, To AVA, With Love, was entirely fabricated on-site at Techshop.

To celebrate its anniversary and its place in the innovation ecosystem, Techshop is hosting a weeklong series of events coinciding with the White House's National Week of Making. Swing by to join in the maker fun June 16-23 and meet leaders in the maker community, participate in engineering challenges for kids, and play a large-scale game of Battleship on their Waterjet table.
