1. Wegmans

Washingtonians, rejoice! There is yet another Wegmans grocery store coming to the D.C. metro area.

The grocer will lease 80K SF of retail space in Tysons, serving as the anchor tenant for the ground-floor retail component of Capital One’s new HQ.

While Wegmans is headquartered in Rochester, New York, it has seen rapid growth throughout the DMV region in recent years. Wegmans has eight stores in the D.C. suburbs, with plans to build at least four more in the coming years. The company plans to open its first D.C. store at Wisconsin Avenue and Rodman Street in D.C.'s Cleveland Park neighborhood.

2. Appian

Reston-based business management software company Appian Corp. is moving its HQ to Tysons. The company will occupy the former Gannett headquarters at 7950 Jones Branch Drive in McLean.

The move also serves to benefit the local economy. The publicly traded company will invest over $28M into the space, and will double its workforce from 600 to 1,200 employees, WTOP reports.

“It’s an easy decision for me,” Appian founder and CEO Matthew Calkins said when he announced the relocation. “I love Virginia. We’ve been building the business here for 19 years. I wanted to be here.”

3. KPMG

In October 2018, KPMG announced plans to relocate its Northern Virginia HQ to the Boro, a multiphase office and residential development by The Meridian Group and Rockefeller Group. KPMG plans to make its move by fall 2019, relocating the 1,900 employees at its existing Tysons HQ and creating 500 new jobs within three years.

KPMG will be joined by several other companies that have signed on to lease space at Boro Tower, including law firms Hogan Lovells and Womble Bond Dickenson and broadcasting company Tegna.
