Insight Plans to Convert the Buchanan School into Condos and Townhomes

At a large community meeting on Tuesday, Insight Property Group presented plans for 41 townhomes and 40 condos on a roughly two-acre Capitol Hill site, currently home to the Buchanan School. Insight plans to keep the two oldest buildings there and convert them into 40 condos with units ranging from studios to three-bedrooms. Meanwhile, the 41 row houses will likely be 35 feet tall and have at least three bedrooms. The townhomes will also have built-in individual garages, and alternating facades of either Federal-style, protruding bays or porch-front homes, to keep with the neighborhood aesthetic, UrbanTurf reports. Another 14 to 16 surface parking spaces are planned for the condos. Insight hopes to begin construction in the fall of 2016, and deliver in 2018. [UT]
