What You Didn’t Know About Mike Ennes

Job: Using hospitality branding and development background to create new living concept for Federal Realty’s multifamily portfolio.
On the job: 4 months (spent over 7 years at Hilton Worldwide in luxury and lifestyle brands and development).
Memorable project: Project lead tasked with developing Hilton Worldwide’s global lifestyle brand (Canopy by Hilton) and launching it to 1,600 owners in October 2014. 
Career: Started in hospitality real estate consulting after finishing grad school in 2005. Appraised everything from small independent hotels in 3rd tier lodging markets to Wynn Macau in China.
Grew up: Saline, MI. 
Current home: A few blocks south of Capitol in an old row home.
Why DC: Came with Hilton’s 2009 HQ move from Beverly Hills. Schools: Michigan State University (BA from School of Hospitality Business) and University of Denver (MBA, specializing in hospitality real estate finance).
First job: ACO Hardware - cashier to paint mixer to stock person, all while wearing the ACO red vest.
Job in another life: Drive a snow cat for extreme back country skiing excursions.
Daily habit: Morning cup of coffee while walking dog.
Favorite app: Songza.
Favorite movies: The Departed and The Dark Knight
Favorite restaurant: Acqua al 2.
Favorite musician: Jack White. 
Favorite vacation spot: Istanbul.
Guilty pleasure: Dark chocolate with sea salt.
Bucket list: African safari.
Family: Married to Lauren 2 years, first child due in August and pup named Opie. 
Hobbies: Cooking, reading and jogging.
Startling fact: Cycled highest paved road in the US at 14,271 feet (Mt. Evans) – vertical climb from starting point in Evergreen, CO of 7,300 feet over 33 miles.
