15 Things You Need to Know This Morning

What You Didn’t Know About Austin Flajser

Title: President, Carr Hospitality/Carr City Centers
Company: DC region focus, with one development project in Charlottesville, Va. Company includes audio visual services; restaurant operations; asset management (oversees hospitality and commercial assets with over $100M); and development/acquisitions – with four ground-up hotel projects (over 650 rooms) in pipeline.
Job: In charge of daily operations and development pipeline.
Years on the job: 3.
Memorable project: First one from inception to delivery – 136-unit condo project at 10th and L – units were sold out before development’s signs arrived. 
Current project: 278-key InterContinental hotel as part of Wharf development at SW Waterfront. Project includes over 17k SF of water view meeting space, ground floor restaurant, 5k SF water-view spa, and 5k SF rooftop restaurant/lounge. Opening late 2017.
CRE career: Started as Carr Enterprises intern, working with Dick Carr on condo projects. (“First desk was a table in Dick’s office, which was nerve-wracking.”) Came on full-time job after college graduation. 
Grew up: Chevy Chase.
Childhood memory: Sledding at Fort Reno Park.
Current home: Bethesda.
Schools: Landon, Vanderbilt (undergrad) and Georgetown (grad).
First job: Unloading crates at local building supplies company.
Job in another life: Architect.
Daily habit: Watching truck videos (mostly garbage trucks and excavators) with son before work.
Favorite app: Wego.
Favorite movie: The Royal Tenenbaums.
Favorite restaurant: The Occidental.
Favorite band: U2.
Favorite vacation spot: Sea Island, Ga.
Guilty pleasure: Frozen M&M’s.
Bucket list: Seeing Redskins win another Super Bowl.
Family: Married five years; son (2) and baby girl coming in August.
Hobbies: Golf and cooking.
Startling fact: Once hit a hole-in-one during a round that didn’t break 100. One of those two things has happened again.
