What You Didn’t Know About Steve Lustgarten

Job: Daily operations of Blake and affiliated companies, including 350 employees. 
Company: 3-4 major projects (repositionings of office, tenant installations, religious institutions, and charter schools) per year, including for own account and fee projects, from Frederick to NoVa. 
Years on the job: 43 (!) – started at Blake during last college semester.
Memorable/current project: Developing new building at 2100 K St. – 11 stories, 150k SF. Building will be connected to IFC headquarters (800k SF) and IFC pre-leased entire building for 40 years with certain rights to purchase it. Estimated completion by late 2018. 
CRE career: Started at Blake in 1971 as leasing agent and switched to night school for last college semester. 
Grew up: Yonkers, NY.
Current home: Potomac.
Why DC: College at GWU – studied finance.
First job: Camp counselor at sleep-away camp in the Poconos. 
Job in another life: Race car driver.
Daily habit: Meet with Pilates trainer.
Favorite app: Pandora.
Favorite movies: Animal House and Weekend at Bernie’s.
Favorite restaurant: Chez Francois.
Favorite music: “Oldies” – any Motown song.
Favorite vacation spot: Italy – Florence and Capri.
Guilty pleasure: Escaping to Florida house during winter.
Bucket list: Play all top 50 golf courses in US. 
Family: Married to Barbara 43 years; two sons and one daughter; four grandchildren. (Oldest son works for Studley in LA.)
Hobbies: Golf and travel.
Startling fact: Threw out first pitch at Nats game three years ago because of amount of money personally raised for American Heart Association.
