Bozzuto Unveils Plans for Big Chevy Chase Development

Placeholder

The Bozzuto Group and Chevy Chase Land Co unveiled plans last week for the first phase of a redevelopment project in Chevy Chase Lake.

The ultimate goal is to transform a suburban-style shopping center into a mixed-use town center in anticipation of a future Purple Line station on Connecticut Avenue. Phase 1 will include three buildings with residential units and ground-floor retail situated around a neighborhood square. The buildings will include about 500 residential units total, likely in the form of for-sale condos in one building and rental apartments for the other two. The developers would like to fill 50k SF of retail space with a grocery store, while the remainder will be a mix of restaurants and other retail.

The project would be built on the site of an existing shopping center that includes a Jos. A. Bank and the Chevy Chase Supermarket. If approved by the Montgomery County Planning Department, Chevy Chase Land Co hopes to start construction in late 2017 with completion slated for early 2019[Bethesda]
