Out With the Micro-Units, In with the Hotel for Dupont Circle Office Building

Valor Development and 1337 Connecticut Ave NW owner Endeka Enterprises have changed their minds regarding a proposal to put 21 micro-units above the Dupont Circle office building (pictured). Instead, the development team wants to convert the building's third through fifth floors into a hotel, and add a previously approved sixth floor, which will also have the hotel and an unaffiliated restaurant. In the end, the new plan will include 50 hotel rooms, while the retail tenant on the first and second floors will remain as is, UrbanTurf reports. This isn't the first time plans for the building have changed. The original proposal was to build eight condos above the office building before a change of heart led to 21 micro-units ranging from 330 SF to 420 SF, however, Valor's Will Lansing said the micro-units were posing design challenges when a hotel operator approached them with the new idea. He remained tight-lipped on what brand the hotel will be. [UT]
