Michigan-based developer Kouza Cos. has assembled a series of properties on Buzzard Point and now has a flag for the 154-room hotel it is planning.

Choice Hotels has signed a deal to bring its Cambria Hotel & Suites brand to the project at Half and Q streets SW, the Washington Business Journal reports

Kouza owns or manages two dozen hotels around the country, but this would be its first hotel in D.C. The developer retained architecture firm BBGM to design the project. It is expected to deliver in 2020 and will include a rooftop bar and a gastropub.

It would be the second Cambria Hotel & Suites in the District. Choice in November bought land in Potomac Yard for a 170-room Cambria Hotel, its first in Northern Virginia, and the brand has two suburban Maryland locations in Rockville and College Park

The construction of D.C. United's Audi Field, set to open later this year, has developers flocking to Buzzard Point. Akridge and MRP Realty have plans for major mixed-use developments in the area, which was included in one of D.C.'s Amazon HQ2 submissions.
