Blocked Out: U Street Building to Eliminate Neighbors' View

Placeholder

Neighborhood Development's newest mixed-use project on U Street NW will block the view of some of its neighbors. The planned, 30-unit condo building over 7,126 SF of retail at the corner of 11th and U would be in front of at least two stories of the next door Lincoln Condominiums, preventing the residents from seeing the street. The current two-story building on the site would be demolished sometime in late 2016 and replaced by the 10-story development, and the Washington Business Journal reports that Lincoln's windows don't have any zoning protection stopping them from being blocked. NDC says it will construct the building a little set back from its neighbor to allow light and air through. NDC bought the site for $2.2M from Industrial Bank in January. [WBJ]
