Putting on the POUNDS in the New Year

Washington, D.C.

Sometimes a building is more than just another project. It's part of American history. POUNDS principals Darryl Pounds and Nick Hunter had the privilege and honor of creating the Visitor Center at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall. The design-build, ground-up construction project houses the gift shop and public restrooms, as well as the US Park Ranger station and the control rooms. The stunning building features a glass façade and stone that is used throughout the entire memorial. Inside, high-end finishes like granite countertops share space with a stone wallengraved with the names of donors and corporate partners. Nick and Darryl feel that the building reflects the majesty of the memorial itself, and that it's a contribution to the dream. For more info on POUNDS, click here.
