Associations React To Traffic

Placeholder

A new report on traffic congestion ranked DC as No. 1 for lost hours per year (82 per commuter in the last year). Following DC were LA at 80 hours, San Fran with 78 and NY with 74. Transportation associations reacted: The American Public Transportation Association said the problem would be a lot worse had it not been for public transportation. Travelers would have suffered an additional 865 million hours of delays and consumed 450 million more gallons of fuel. Others noted that Congress continues delaying passing a long-term transportation bill. The Highway Trust Fund is only kept alive with short-term extensions of funding. [AN]
