La Vie en Rose Buys Bikini Village

Turns out our fears of a bikini shortage in Canada were unwarranted. Lingerie and swimwear retailer Boutique La Vie en Rose has purchased insolvent Quebec-based bathing suit chain Groupe Bikini Village and plans to build it into a national chain (currently there are 52 stores in Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia). And La Vie en Rose CEO Francois Roberge said his company plans to strengthen its international presence by exporting the Bikini Village banner outside Canada. He told the Canadian Press he paid less than $4M for the company, which he’d tried to buy three previous times over the past 12 years. (Like fitting into a tiny bikini: if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.) [CP]
