The official name for the Berkadia hospitality division is The Lucky Location Club, according to managing director Mauricio Rodriguez. Easy to understand why: the office is located in a hospitality hub: Marriott and Hilton HQ, as well as plenty of hotel REITs. Berkadia is taking full advantage of the exposure and opening up the platform to some high-profile deals. He adds that at this time of year, everybody wants to get deals done, and that lenders are looking for volume at year’s end, even in the tertiary markets. Mauricio, one of the company’s top young originators, has worked alongside senior managing director Andy Coleman for nine years. The mortgage banking production team is expanding: Lindsey deButts, who started in multifamily underwriting at Berkadia, begins her role as associate director as of Jan. 1, developing business and sourcing debt for all types of assets. She teams with Kevin Ridgway (yep, no “e” in that last name), who, as associate director, will be expanding across all property types into the region’s top debt originations platform. The goal: to be a one-stop shop for clients, from sales to financing. Mauricio adds that Berkadia has strong relationships with all lenders, which allows access to plenty of capital and funds.
