San Diego has hit the ground running on developing student housing projects. San Diego City College is building its first affordable student housing community, which will include 283 units and 800 beds, a shared community kitchen, designated areas for studying and a courtyard.

San Diego State University is developing its project, Evolve Student Housing, in phases. The first phases will deliver residence halls and a community center, where students can grab a bite to eat, get their mail and socialize.

The region’s university leadership and commercial real estate industry will get together at Bisnow’s San Diego Student Housing and Higher Education Conference on Feb. 24 to discuss trends in student housing, how affordability factors into creating these spaces, and what amenities students value in their housing.
