The evolution of the office workspace is not just a fun trend courted by the Millennials; it’s a deep philosophical shift in thinking, says Design Republic business manager Gabe Hernandez. According to Gabe, it’s more about the Baby Boomers and Gen Xers finally “getting it,” thinking differently. The workplace can function with a more transparent feel, and you don’t need a ladder and 10 years of hard work to contribute substantially to a company. In addition, Gabe thinks that hiring Baby Boomers and Gen Xers still gives Millennials a framework and structure for a company’s future plans and goals. Yet not all companies subscribe to this new way of thinking: Many traditional institutions and corporations, for instance, still do business the old-fashioned way, with cubicles, corner offices and promotions.
