It's Only a Decade Away

What will Bellevue look like 10 years from now? Wallace Properties president and COO Kevin Wallace, who will also be speaking at theFuture of Downtown Bellevue event, expects a "reasonable level of growth in the downtown" with new office buildings, hotels, apartments and even a little retail. "Bellevue will continue to be a haven for the tech sector and the industries that support it," he says. But like Greg, Kevin (above, with his father Robert, Wallace's CEO, in their Bellevue office) is excited about the Spring District, which he compares to downtown's South Lake Union. Both areas are giving their respective cities new opportunities for urban center development, he says. Wallace's latest project, the eco-conscious Citizen of the Pike Pine, opened on Capitol Hill in April. "It's a rocket," Kevin reports happily. Citizen is already 70% leased and will be more so by the end of the week.
