Residential Tower At 300 Grant Turns Into Retail And Office Space

Developers are taking another shot at developing 300 Grant Ave. The new proposal calls for the existing building to be demolished and redeveloped as six stories of office and retail space.

Redevelopment of 300 Grant has proceeded slowly over the past decade as developers sought to convert the site into condos or mixed-use, reports SocketSite. Initially builders wanted to construct a 10-story tower over ground-floor retail. The credit crisis derailed those plans.

The current proposal designed by MBH Architects calls for joining 300 Grant and 272 Sutter. The first three stories of the six-story tower would be occupied by retail tenants. Office clients would lease the remaining floors.

The new plan will go in front of San Francisco’s Historic Preservation Commission’s Architectural Review Committee for approval. [SS]
