Google's Life Sciences Business To Sublease Former Onyx HQ In South S.F.

Verily Life Sciences, the life sciences company started by Google, plans to lease Onyx Pharmaceuticals' former HQ at 249-279 E Grand Ave in South San Francisco, gaining 400k SF for up to 1,000 employees.

The lease—reportedly a sublease from biotech firm Amgen, not a direct lease with Alexandria Real Estate Equities—has not been finalized, but could be by the end of the week, sources tell the San Francisco Business Times. Verily could move the first 400 employees from its Mountain View location by the end of the year.

Amgen, which acquired Onyx in 2013 and shut down the South San Francisco facility last year, is subleasing out around 700k SF of its space. [SFBT]
