Autodesk Leaving San Rafael, Consolidating Office Space In San Francisco

Software company Autodesk will vacate its offices in San Rafael, California, in October, ending a 30-year tenure in the city.

The company plans to consolidate into office space it leases at One Market Plaza in San Francisco, as first reported by the San Francisco Business Times.

Autodesk named the One Market Plaza location its new corporate headquarters in May, and the company told SFBT it will not make layoffs as part of the move. Paramount Group owns One Market Plaza.

Autodesk will move 578 employees to One Market, with a majority operating on a hybrid work schedule. An annual report released by the company earlier this year stated that the company leases 284K SF in San Francisco, with that lease set to expire in June 2026.

The company vacated 300 Mission St. earlier this year, later subleasing the space to wealth management company Iconiq Capital.

Meanwhile, the gap between Class-A and lower-tier office property types in San Francisco grows as owners of subprime office real estate struggle to fill space amid the flight-to-quality trend.
