Silicon Valley needs more housing, and a proposal put forth by The Sobrato Organization would bring just that to Mountain View's North Bayshore business district.

The firm has turned in preliminary plans for a project that could place up to 670 units of market-rate housing and up to 130 affordable units on a 17-acre site along with a 230k SF office building. The site for the proposed project lies between La Avenida Street and Space Park Way, according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

The proposal fits with a growing trend in Silicon Valley toward mixed-use developments. Sobrato's proposal is the first to include housing in North Bayshore. [SVBJ]
