New Legislation to Increase S.F. Housing

In another effort to solve the S.F. housing shortage, Supervisor Scott Wiener is proposing new legislation today that would allow owners to convert unused spaces, such as storage areas and garages, into new residential housing. It would apply to San Francisco neighborhoods Diamond Heights, Glen Park and Noe Valley, reports the San Francisco Business Times. A similar San Francisco measure passed in April 2014 to promote the development of accessory dwelling units, also known as "in-law units" and "granny flats," in the Castro, another neighborhood that Wiener represents.
