City Council members unanimously approved a general plan that calls for a balance of commercial construction and housing in the downtown Antioch waterfront area this week. The plans allow for as much as 575K SF of retail and office space and up to 2,173 new homes, reports Inside Bay Area. The vote follows several months of weighing residents’ opinions, and the hope is that new development will trigger a domino effect and help transform downtown into an area where people want to live and shop. [IBA]
