The New Way To Dress Hotels?

San Francisco Hotel

Joie de Vivre just adorned the Hotel Carlton in Nob Hill with photographs celebrating Nepal’s culture. The American Himalayan Foundation sponsored the 50-shot exhibit this month from Italian photographer Luigi Fieni. Luigi has worked since 1999 as a conservator of Tibetan art, restoring 15th century wall paintings and statues and teaching his craft to the people of the remote Mustang district of Nepal. Hotel Carlton was the ideal fit for the art, since it already features vibrant Tibetan furnishings and textiles. Erica Stone, president of AHF, tells us her foundation's annual gala—held Oct 14—unites people from near and far (many locals have had a chance to visit Himalaya, she says). It even acts as a matchmaking event; some intros at the event over wine have resulted in marriages.
