Report: Kimpton Up For Sale

S.F.-based boutique hotel giant could be putting the brand on the market, according to the Wall Street Journal, which cites people familiar with the matter. And a deal could come soon. The biggest independent operator of boutique hotels has 62 properties across 28 US cities, including eight in S.F. A Kimpton exec declined to comment in the article. Kimpton Hotels VP Jesse Stein, speaking at Bisnow hospitality event this fall, said he feels the upswing in the cycle has time left so his brand is a believer in renovating now and hinted at some pending upgrades in local properties this year.
