Initiative Could Block Flower Mart Redev

S.F. residents will be asked to sign a petition for a ballot measure that could stop Kilroy's 1.5M SF office complex on SoMa's Flower Mart site, reports the San Francisco Business Times. The clump of flower vendors wanting rent and space concessions from Kilroy will start to get signatures for the November ballot after a March 1 self-imposed negotiating deadline passed. But the threat is different than recent land-use ballot measures taken up by housing activists, and negotiations between Kilroy and Flower Mart tenants are still under way. In December, Kilroy unveiled plans to pay $80M to keep the historic flower market on the same site as the office space by moving it underground. [SFBT]
