CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME
Yesterday, we chatted with Alan Collenette, regional managing director for Colliers’ San Francisco and Sacramento offices. He tells us Colliers’ global charitable campaign Everyone Gives (which we talked about with Colliers CEO Doug Frye on Friday) just might be the most prolific eight days of giving ever seen. Individuals make a small donation such as $5 to their favorite charity registered on thewebsite then invite at least two friends through social media to donate and so on, creating a multiplier effect.

So what are Colliers' San Francisco folks doing? They signed up about 25 of their favorite charities, ranging from the City of Hope and Bay Area Make a Wish Foundation to the Peninsula SPCA and the Tony Blair Faith Foundation. About a year ago, Blair did a large fundraising event with Colliers in San Francisco. He’ll be making a donation through Everyone Gives—one of several well-known people who have lent their names to the effort. Alan says the idea was to get as many charities as possible involved. Back in the day, he and the former British prime minister managed rock bands together. (Who’da thunk it?)
