Breaking News... Education Giant Moves To Mission Bay

San Francisco

We just learned Cengage Learning, the No. 2 higher-ed company in the world, will relocate its 250-person West Coast office from Belmont to Mission Bay. (Now it can write a textbook about office relocation.)

Stamford, Conn.-based Cengage just inked a 68k SF lease on the second floor of 500 Terry Francois Blvd. The owner of the Nat Geo learning brand tells us it's leaving San Mateo County to be in a more central location in San Francisco in Q1 2014. Other brainiacs are moving in, too: Internet publisher just signed for 34k SF. The Sobrato-owned building has been a magnet for tech companies; cloud networking firm Meraki (bought by Cisco a year ago) occupies three floors. (Do not challenge this building to a round of Assassin's Creed.) Now there's just over 12k SF left on the ground floor of the 305k SF site. Cornish & Carey's Donnette Clarens, Mike Brown, Bart O'Conner and Jack Troedson repped the landlord.
