Jewelers Row Businesses Are Fighting Toll Brothers' High-Rise

Placeholder

Toll Brothers' proposed 16-story mixed-use building on the historic Jewelers Row block of Philadelphia has hit a speed bump.

A coalition of preservationists, property owners and businesses on the block have filed appeals of demolition to the Zoning Board of Adjustment. The suits allege that some properties set to be razed for the building were not notified, and their owners left off the zoning application to the Department of Leasing & Inspections, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Zoning Board is expected to hear the appeal within 45 days, and a spokesman for Toll Brothers said he is "confident in our ability to proceed under the by-right zoning status of this project." [Philly]
